Zombies, Run!
I don't love running. Actually, I might just hate it. I don't know how Julian does it. He started running and has run several marathons now. what the?
Anyway, I was in the process of psyching myself up to take the dog for a jog and something online caught my eye. One click let to another until... Zombies, Run! yes! a running music app with zombies! what is better than that?!
(answer: nothing)
so here how it works: you use either your own phone's music player, or a music app like Spotify, and the adventure happens over the music. What's extra nice about this is that Spotify has a running feature where the app determines your beats per minute and then plays songs at that speed to help you maintain your pace. Then you get the zombie app going... and voila! You're living a zombie adventure! The story starts and you find yourself in a helicopter sometime after the zombie apocalypse, heading to an outpost. The 'copter goes down but you can still hear the radio air traffic controller dude even though you can't communicate back to him. He guides you where to run and you have to pick up objects along the way. Sometimes you hear him talking to you, and sometimes he's quiet and the music comes back up to full volume. I enabled "Zombie Chases" so every so often I hear "Zombies detected nearby." and you hear the zombies are at 20 meters... then 15! then... "Zombies averted". whew!
Then, and I don't know how the app did this, I heard one of the zombies singing key phrases during the Foo Fighters song! "...if everything could ever feel this real forever..." I was running and laughing out loud (which is a first!)
I think this is super clever and am looking forward to my next run!
